British Columbia’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry will be subject to strict regulations and comprehensive environmental oversight. The highest standards applied to B.C.’s natural gas exploration and production will carry over to all construction and operations for LNG export – the first industry of its kind in Canada.
The Government of British Columbia has put regulations in place to ensure the cleanest LNG facilities are built in the province, with a benchmark set by law to ensure the greenhouse gas emissions are the lowest in the world.
See details about the benchmark here.
Regulations are also in place for the construction and operation of LNG facilities proposed in British Columbia. These regulations define all safety aspects of a LNG industry in the province with oversight conducted by the BC Oil and Gas Commission.
